November

This month has been go, go, go! Anniversaries, birthdays, Christmas parties and festive feels, fundraising events after fundraising events, and might we add that PCSRF is smashing it! You might be noticing the many new faces getting around and we couldn't be more excited to see our family growing both staff and clients. Physiotherapy and Osteopathy treatment is now an available service to book in.

In case you missed us in your emails, our purple walls will be closing over Christmas for 2 weeks, last day of sessions being the 23rd December, first day back being 9th January. I think it is safe to say we are all ready to go into a food coma and sit out in the sun with some time off. If you are also taking an extended break or plan on changing your sessions next year, please let us know at info@makingstrides.com.au.

OSTEO NATHAN

Welcome our new Canadian purple crew member, Nathan! Nathan studied Osteopathy in Australia, UK, USA and Canada and is focused on promoting healthy ageing and longevity, improving movement efficiency and decompressing joints. He is passionate about natural health and uses an approach that is both therapeutic and preventative. Combining these approaches aim to alleviate pain, restore movement, and improve wellbeing.

Contact info@makingstrides.com.au to book in now anytime through the week!

PHYSIOTHERAPY NOW ADDED TO OUR SERVICES

Making Strides welcomed our lovely Leah to our purple crew in August this year and many of you have already experienced her amazing skills. Now that Leah has found her feet within our purple walls, she will be available for scheduled physiotherapy appointments, charged at $193per hour, as well as exercise physiology.

SIP WEEK RECAP

SIP Week has come and gone, but it wasn't just another year. 10 years has been the biggest year yet with the PCSRF raising $144, 699! These donations will contribute towards the next stage of the Spinal Injury Project for a cure for paralysis!

The crew at Strides collectively raised our largest amount yet of $16,849.80! As promised we got our sweat on for every $100 and completed 10km each, total of 170km.

You can see the blood sweat and tears in the video on socials!

'MAKING THE IMPOSSIBLE POSSIBLE' EVENING

Some of the Strides crew came together at HOTA with volunteers, partners, stakeholders, ambassadors and donors of the PCSRF to celebrate all that has been achieved in 2022.

Thanks to the numerous fundraising events throughout the year and generous donors, PCSRF and Griffith University have been able to commence expressions of interest for Stage 2 of the Spinal Injury Project Intensive Rehabilitation Trial, following Stage 1 that we hosted at the start of the year.

If you are interested in participating in the next trial, please seek more information HERE.

A message from the Griffith University Researchers:

"A spinal cord injury is a devastating condition that currently affects over 20 thousand Australian people. It only takes a blind of an eye to occur, it can happen to anyone, at any time.

We often only read about these injuries and the scientists working on a cure in the papers, journal articles and new. This time we want to ask you, people living with spinal cord injury, what it really means to you. Are you currently living with a spinal cord injury in Australia and are over the age of 18? If so, help us to understand you and your expectations better, so that we can work together to build a batter solution. We’d like to know your thoughts and opinions on current SCI treatments as well as the information you might already know about our very own cell therapy."

THE STRIDES STALLIONS AT PCSRF LEGENDS LUNCH

The Strides Stallions swapped their shorts for chinos and dined in with some of our clients in efforts of supporting the PCSRF. An incredible $160,000 was raised at the 5th Annual Brisbane Legends Lunch. Thank you to PCSRF for hosting an incredible even, we can't promise that these boys were on their best behaviour that day though.

FINISHING THE YEAR WITH A BIG SPLASH

There is one thing we love more than eating all the Christmas sweets and slow cooked meat, and that is getting out on the water with our purple family. It has been another big year and we couldn't think of a better way to go out than with a big splash! Thank you to everyone who came to enjoy the day. A special thanks to Eddie, Pam, Ward, Dean, Sharon and Johnny, Spencer, Fletcher, Reece and Ella for the behind the scenes works in ensuring the day went smoothly.

"SEE YOU SOON" BBQ

Join us this Thursday 1st Dec, to send off our gorgeous, smiley Georgia "Coach" Carter as she leaves (temporarily) on her travels to Switzerland for 5 months.

From 1-1:30pm we will be enjoying a BBQ and using the time to remind her how much we adore her.
