APRIL NEWS

Easter hopped on by, leaving us all full of Choccie's hot cross buns and quality Family time. Hopefully the Easter bunny found you wherever you were and spread smiles across all the faces around you. With Public holidays galore our days have been full, fitting 5 days into 4, so much so that it's been a full house- if you have been into Strides lately we hope you have enjoyed the mad house. Here's hoping we get some reprieve from the rain soon, that the winter sun starts shining through the doors and that we can see the return of the Strides boys 'Waterboy' competition. Who can believe its nearly MAY! We have so much happening in the second half of the year so be sure to keep your eyes peeled.

 

GENNY MAT LEAVE 2.0

Genny is about to welcome Baby Kohler number 2 into the world and we could not be more excited for her. Even with the selfish side of us is all wishing she didn't need to leave us again, she will be heading off on maternity leave on Friday the 29th on April returning when she feels ready. Genny, please know you will be missed during your absence and we wish you Nick and Lawson all the happiness welcoming another addition.

We will be having a BBQ lunch on Friday 29th to send our fabulous Gen off for a bit. Please feel free to join us.

NUTRITION INFO NIGHT

MAY THE FOURTH - We will be holding a Nutrition information session to kick off our Ten-Week Challenge and we are extending the invite to everyone of you. Please join us as Georgia Hendy takes you through the importance of nutrition and how best to implement healthy strategies. The info night will run from 3:45 - 4:45 Wednesday afternoon and we hope you can all make it, if you can make it - please RSVP on this link.


WINGS FOR LIFE Join us for Wing For Life on May 8th. We will be travelling to Brisbane to run in the App Run at University of Queensland. If you can't join us in Brisbane you can still take part; you can download the app, join our team and run/walk/push from anywhere in the world. For more details on how to join our team click here. UPSKILLING AND LEARNING

As a team we love to constantly expand our knowledge and repertoire. Recently Meg and Heleena completed a Neurological pain specific course in Melbourne, Sarah completed an online 3-part neurological lecture series, Kaisha complete a hydrotherapy course and we have all recently learnt how to use a new force and range or motion tool called the 'Active Force'. We all make a conscious effort to share our knowledge between one another and create new idea's and ways to deliver the best possible sessions.

BIGGEST MORNING TEA

We are always supporting the SCI community but we are well aware there are so many more great causes out there and every now and then it is important we spread our wings. Here on the Sunny Gold Coast we should all be aware of the presence of skin cancer and the damage it can cause. We will be holding a "Biggest Morning Tea" on Thursday May 19th and we encourage you all to join. Treats will be available for the morning tea and lunch breaks, we will ask for a small donation upon attendance as our way of raising funds for the Cancer Council. more information can be found here.
