Happy New Year, New Financial Year that is for all you money bugs out there this may either be a hectic time of year or one that comes with suddenly free time. Whatever this time of year may mean for you I hope you're enjoying the month of July and continuing to build on healthy habits. July at strides has been a mix of busy days, team building and working hard on projects within our walls. There is a few new faces, in our Crew, students and even clients, so if you are a newbie around here - welcome to the craziness that is Making Strides.


 

NDIS CHANGES

NDIS is an ever changing beast, and just when you think you've got your head around it....BAM it changes again. You may have seen/heard about the participant check-in's introduced in May, well, these are agin changing. The Team DSC guys have written a handy article about these changes and you can read it here. Hopefully it answers any questions if this is a change that affects you.

Every so often we like to remind people of our Facebook group - if you aren't a part of this group please join our to stay up to date with updates, items for sale, events and client to client chat!


HAVE YOU SAVED THE DATE?!?

Remember our ninth birthday party will be on September 24th at the Varsity Tavern (2 Santa Maria Court). It is 90's theme so please come dressed in your best 90's attire. As always there will be Food, Photo Booth, Drinks and Music from our old favourite Dan Hannaford.



STRIDES SCHOOL OF FACTS 'n' STUFF

PCSRF LADIES LUNCH

August 18th is the date - the Gold Coast Local Charity Lunches will be dedicating their lunch proceeds to the fabulous Perry Cross Spinal Research Foundation. The lunch will be held at Edgewater Dining on the Isle of Capri and if you would like tickets or more information you can find them on the dedicated Facebook Page. Stay tuned on the PCSRF Facebook page for more updates and other ways to donate!


PARAPLEGIC BENEFIT FUND SPEAKING OPPORTUNITY

The PBF are search ing for people to speak at their events, on a casual basis. The organisations aim is to spread awareness and decrease the incidence and impact of spinal cord injuries in Australia. The organisation also works with people living with quadriplegia or paraplegia to enhance their quality of life. The person they are looking for would join their team on a casual basis and present at injury prevention talks around the Brisbane / Gold Coast area's. applicant's must have a current Blue Card and access to their own transport. DOUBLE THE FUN, LET'S CELEBRATE TWO NEW BABIES INSTEAD OF ONE.

In October the Strides Fam will be welcoming two new Bubs, both Meg and Heleena are expecting babies - due one week apart to be precise (they swear they didn't plan it!).

Please join us for an afternoon tea celebrating both mum’s-to-be Meg & Heleena on

Friday 2nd September – 3:30pm at Strides.

CLIENTS WHO CAN WRITE A DAMN GOOD BOOK

We have some very talented story tellers amongst us, with some very worthy stories to tell. We will be the first to tell you that no two SCI stories are the same, and reading about these life changing scenario's, the resilience to follow and when people open up about their journey it is really something admire. Some of these spectacular books have been released for quite some time now but we have three new releases we also want to introduce you to!

10-WEEK CHALLENGE 2022

Our first challenge for 2022 has finished, you may have seen the challenge crew in the gym or even spotted their workout progress on the office window. The challengers showed epic adherence, results and team work to get through the 10 weeks or group sessions, home programs and weekly check-ins. Some had great weight loss progress, some showed epic strength improvements and others did not miss a single workout!!! We are so happy to announce our two winners - Anne-Maree and Ben, both super worthy winners who both got so much out of their own individual challenges. We would like to thank Dover's Drop, Nutrition Warehouse and Brookside Country Meats for their epic additions to our 10-week challenge prize packs! Keep your eyes peeled, we will try and get challenge number 2 for 2022 underway soon.
