DIRECTOR & CO-FOUNDER
Jim is our resident country boy from Dubbo and while we sometimes don't appreciate his love of country music, it's his good work ethic, cheeky nature and ability to perform any task required of him that makes him integral to the team.
Jim's loud and gregarious presence is a result of growing up as one of five children with a whopping 32 first cousins! Sport mad, Jim has played a lot of it - As a junior he won six grand finals straight with St John's RLFC. Growing up in the country Jim has also spent a lot of time on motorbikes even after a near miss with a tractor during his first time learning how to ride.
It was Jim's love of sport saw him relocate to Sydney after school to pursue a tertiary education in this field. Jim graduated from The University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise and Sport Science) and took his first position with Acceleration - an athlete training and rehabilitation centre in Brisbane.
Jim has 9 years experience working in sports, primarily as the Director of Performance at Acceleration. It is this strong background in Strength & Conditioning coaching that has allowed him to work with many professional and development level teams and athletes including: Southport Sharks, Brisbane Broncos, Brisbane Lions, AFL Queensland, Gold Coast Suns and the Australian and Serbian Winter Olympics Bobsleigh teams.
While Jim is very grateful for the opportunities he was given in sport he is now more than ever passionate about working with neurological disorders and improving peoples quality of life. Jim has successfully taken the knowledge and experience he has gained coaching at an elite level and applied it to the rehabilitation methods used at Making Strides and his unique training methods have seen him provide our clients with exciting challenges to help improve their strength and independence.
An all-rounder in the gym you will find Jim performing any role that comes his way - whether he is working out, training clients, building equipment, renovating the facility, servicing the ReWalk units, behind the computer, manning the BBQ or just out on the floor cheering our clients on with his dance moves and cuddles. Jim is also currently completing his MBA with Griffith University and has taken on his biggest most important role yet as 'Dad' to Daisy Jane.
