Bec is a small town girl who hails from Tathra in the far South coast of NSW, but thrives on the coastal city lifestyle of the Gold Coast. Growing up spending plenty of her time camping all around the East coast of Australia, Bec is a lover of the ocean. You can find her spending her weekends swimming, bike riding, surfing, soaking up the last of the days rays at Burleigh or competing in triathlons.
Bec is a Griffith University graduate with a Bachelor and Graduate Diploma of Exercise Science. Exercise Physiology initially appealed to Bec as she grew up with a healthy interest in how the body moves and a deep love of how great exercise made her feel. Throughout her studies Bec developed a passion for long term management of rehabilitation to manage neuromuscular injuries as opposed to short term interventions.
Bec was Making Strides very first practicum student, completing her 6 week placement during the company's infancy and took on a position as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist upon her graduation in 2014. This opportunity was a ‘right place at the right time’ situation for Bec who after visiting our website for the first time voiced “I am going to work there” immediately.
It is not just the big city that keeps Bec away from her family, including a twin sister, and family business. Bec considers Making Strides her home away from home and her second family. She has a vested interest in her clients progressions and is passionate about the rehabilitation of spinal cord injuries and the challenges, changes and rewards that accompany her role at Making Strides.
Bec is fascinated by the mind body connection and her concurrent love of yoga has taken her Making Strides sessions to the next level. Bec thrives on finding creative positions and movements to challenge the nervous system and her clients see and feel the rewards of working with her immediately.
To complement her love of anything that keeps her active, Bec is animal lover, a book worm and would one day like to try her hand at interior design.
