THE MAKING STRIDES EXPERIENCE
Our Activity Based Therapy (ABT) programming is based on the joint clinical and functional goals set between the client and their Exercise Physiologist during the initial evaluation.
ABT encompasses a range of modalities including: Locomotor training; Load bearing; Functional Electrical Stimulation therapy; Resistance training and Aerobic fitness.
FES cycling sessions combine electrical stimulation on specific muscles in the lower or upper body to initiate or strengthen the cycling pattern of the arms or legs. Session duration is between 30 and 60 minutes and can be completed either as a stand alone or before/after an exercise physiology session. Current research suggests the optimal dose response is achieved completing FES cycling three times weekly.
Hydrotherapy sessions are offered off-site at the Palm Beach Aquatic Pool by our accredited exercise physiologists.
Making Strides is the Australian distributor of the ReWalk exoskeleton with both personal and clinical units available for purchase. Our centre is the only certified training centre in Queensland. ReWalk sessions are 90 minutes in duration with approximately 60 minutes of activity in the device. The ReWalk offers clients a form of passive gait training in a wearable exoskeleton.
ReWalk sessions are a great opportunity to get upright and walk while achieving a number of great health benefits. Some include:
Improved bladder and bowel function
Decreased body fat
Improved mental health
Our group training is designed to focus on cardiovascular fitness and muscular endurance.
Sessions are conducted by one of our Exercise Physiologists, running for one-hour with up to four clients of a similar function. Each session encompasses a variety of modalities, designed to be fast-paced and interactive.
Group training is currently offered on Monday, Friday and Saturday.
Remedial massage appointments are one hour in length and are available every Tuesday and Friday with our remedial massage therapist Ellie Hulme.
Appointments can be made online or directly with Making Strides.
